Good morning folks Cheesy
Interesting start to the day. On my way to work this morning I turned into a lane I use every day only to be confronted by a huge oak tree right across the road. Being the public spirited person I am, I called the local police number - answerphone, so I tried the district command number - answer phone. Eventually I called 999 (equivalent of 911 in the US) and spoke to the emergency operator.
I explained that a huge oak had come down across a very narrow country lane used by many vehicles and that it was on a blind bend.
I was told that it wasn't an emergency and that the police would not be responding!
I excplained that it wasn't an emergency at that moment but as soon as people started to head for work, all bleary eyed and in a rush that it was entirely likely that there would be several multi car pile ups for the plod to deal with.

Their response! "you can stay there and direct traffic" I responded that I accepted their verbal confirmation that they would be paying me £500 per hour of my time for doing their job and that as all emergency calls are recorded there was an official record of the operator giving me permission to charge the police force that sum of money. Strangely enough, after about a 10 second blank spot in the conversation I heard the dulcit tiones of a police car racing to my location! Go figure.

Anyway, it is suppsed to be a very hot week this week so I am cracking on with my chores Shocked) so I can get all the hot work done before the sun makes it impossible to breath lol.

It is so reassuring to know our country is in such safe competent hands....and then the police have to get involved and bugger things up!!

These days we get nicked for having a Swiss Army knife in the car !!    Angry

I always keep a can of de-icer on my front seat - essential part of the car - well, in the winter anyways but then Guns got me a nice spray which, as the ad says, is "for use on dogs and other large mammals" - guess what I suddenly become scared of dogs and if I ever had to use it and the cops don't believe me I wonder how they'll prove otherwise !!  My  only problem would be that there'd be a man rolling around on the ground in agony  LMAO

Can't carry a damn thing over here mate  Angry
All these do gooders have fucked it up. If you have a knife where the blade locks it is illegal, if the blade length is over 1 1/2" it is illegal, if the blade is concealed (utility knife) it is legal if it is in your toolbox but illegal if it is anywhere else other than your job, the list goes on mate Angry Angry Angry

PEK,
This is a high pressure jet which goes 15 foot so I know it isn't as long reaching as yours but 15 foot is a good distance and I'd hope to god they weren't any closer than that.

15' would be good defense. Then pull out your trusted Ax handle and blap him up side the head and be done with it.

It's not illegal for a shop hammer or ax handle in your ride or bike, is it?  Huh
