Well, after years of sitting there every Sunday evening watching the show and making comments like "I could do better than that" or "NO! Don't do it that way" and a whole host of other comments, the time has come for Guns to put his money where his mouth is  Grin

Whilst watching the show a couple of weeks ago an ad came on asking for people to apply. so I did Cheesy
I only got as far as filling the first part of the form in when I saw that the cut off date for appications was in May! So I saved what I had done and left it at that.
The following day I get a call from the production company asking why I didn't complete the application form, so I explained.
"Oh no, don't worry about that" came the response. "In fact, we'll fast track you to the second stage of application" so they sent me a detailed form to complete all about the team, what we do, where we are,  all that sort of stuff.

Well, days went by and low and behold, another call. "You have made it through selection and we will send you a design brief which has to be returned by July 9th" This was at 6PM on Monday the 4th, so not a lot of thinking time, especially with the packed weekend we just had.

So, the design is in it's final stages and will be submitted tomorrow. There are 16 teams being asked to submit a design, of which only 6 will go through to the show.

They said they would let us know on Friday if we have made it to the final 6, so I have my fingers crossed for a favourable result.

It would certainly be V Cool indeed to get on the show and it will be a great advert for 4HD as it will be filmed in our workshops Cheesy

Well, that's all for now folks. I'll be sure to let you know of any developments

Thanks mate. We aim to please  Grin
I have just submitted the deign for scrutiny and we'll find out on Friday if we've made it to the show  Grin

Can't tell you how excited I am about this lol
I would have preferred a blow things up or shoot things type challenge, but I'll settle for what we were given for this round  Lips sealed

Well, the first design we submitted wasn't rejected but they decided that the competition just wasn't "scrapheap" enough lol so they asked us to submit a new design based on a new brief.

So after much scratching of heads we came up with a design and sent it off as required.

I got a call this afternoon from the production office saying that
WE ARE ON THE SHOW

Obviously I cannot divulge the theme of the show or anything about our design, but needless to say, as a petrol head it will be a monster machine lol

I'll keep all y'all posted  Grin

I am sorry to say that it all got canned. They changed the format so that you had to use your own money and buy the materials for the build. Not only that but you had to do it at your own premises then transport the finished machine to whatever location they choose, leave it with their scrutineers than travel to wherever they finally decided the event would be.
Having costed out what we planned to do, we figured it would take in excess of £3000 plus transport, accommodation etc so we contacted other teams in the show and they were of the same opinion as us.
When the production company realised that people were'nt willing to spend their own hard earned money to provide entertainment that would be licensed worldwide and they make all the money we think they pulled the series, not sure though.
We graciously withdrew with a proviso that we would take part if they funded it in future and I belive several other teams did the same.

Pity, it would have been fun Roll Eyes
