Well folks, I am very pleased and proud to announce that Anglo-American Custom Cycle Ltd (www.4HD.net) is the FIRST UK member of The International Master Bike Builders Association (IMBBA)
This is indeed an honour to be a part of an organisation that strives to give independant custom bike builders recognised credentials.
Unlike the Big firms like H-D, there is no way to check on the skills, qualifications and reputation of a bike builder other than word of mouth or their own websites. The IMBBA provides a certification track from Mechanic through to Master Bike Builder and believe me, the coursework is no walk in the park. This is a huge step forward without having to suffer the regulations that Government approved schemes force upon small builders.

Greetings everybody!
I am a norwegian guy, who has bought a -84 mod. FLH  late shovel with the 4-speed gearbox!
And yes ,you guessed correct! It has a severe leakage of oil through the mainshaft of the drive axel! I had in mind a full overhawl , until i spotted the "supernut" for big twins.  It seems there is no slack in the axel, so i believe the needle rollers are ok.The leak is along the mainshaft, so the rubber seal will not fix the problem.
Anyone out there who has tried this nut?Will it fit with the belt drive?
Please answer me, the driving season is very short  here up north!!

Hi Kallen and welcome to the board mate.
Can't say I have used the supernut personally and to be honest, whilst it may be a "quick fix" I think a full overhaul would not be a bad idea.
How many miles has the old FLH done?
The shovels with 4 speed always leaked a little due to the agricultural tollerances in the factory back then i.e. + or - 30 thousandths of an inch, well that's what it seems like lol but a big leak usually means a teardown and rebuild of the box.

I have a few friends who are well into the pre evo Harleys, so I'll ask the question for you and let you know re the supernut.

Hi Guns, thanks for the answer. I have no idea about how far it has gone, ar it has been a change of speedometer.
However, i will settle for a quick fix this time, and do the full job when winter arrives.
anyone else with super nut experience?
PS
Someone in the gang adviced me to use gear oil ment for outboard boat engines.Anyone with experience with this?
Could the marine oil have higher viscosity?

Hi Kallen, No problem, I just wondered so you can judge the amount of wear on the gearbox.
Having never used the supernut I can't say if it will fot or work, I guess the best thing is to try it. If it works then great, if not you are no worse off than you are right now.

I'd stick with the correct oil for the gearbox, the outboard oil may have a higher viscosity but it won't do the box any good in the long run.

SUPER  supernut!
Fits like a glove, smack on,plase enough, oilproof like a bottle!
Just added some gorillasnore on the backside, the slim O-ring in the kit would not stay in place.
This must be the ultimate solution for leaking gearboxes,as no rebuild is nessecary.As the leaking always start long before the box is worn out.Recommend this SUPERNUT-kit!

Gorilla Snot is a high viscosity sealant, basically it bungs up whatever is leaking Cheesy

Blue Silicon, this is a "Lock Tite" product, which seals everything ,is resistant to high temp, low temp, gas, oil ,acid, base --------------
